How the plant reshaped Vance housing
Vance incorporated in 1972, lies mostly in southeastern Tuscaloosa County and reaches into Bibb County. It grew from 500 residents in 2000 to 2,092 in 2020, and its housing units rose from 592 to 860 between 2010 and 2020. US 11 runs through the center of town, and I-59 serves it at Exit 89 beside the Mercedes-Benz plant. That plant employs about 5,800 people, and Mercedes-Benz plans to invest $4 billion there by 2030, which points to continued building and more new garages to fit.
