Openers and new garage doors for Coaling homeowners

Opener missing, outdated or just plain loud? Coaling added nearly 400 housing units between 2010 and 2020, and owners here call us most for new openers and replacement doors, with storm-ready choices high on the list after the 2011 tornado.

Straight answer

Coaling's housing nearly doubled between 2010 and 2020, so most of our work here is on fairly new garages: adding or upgrading openers, replacing builder doors and fitting battery backup. We size the opener to the door weight, set the force and travel limits, and test the safety reverse before we leave.

Coaling garages

From Coaling Station to a commuter town

Coaling shows up on the 1880 census as Coaling Station but only incorporated in 1997, so most of its housing is recent. Newer homes here typically have two-car attached garages with lightweight steel doors and basic chain-drive openers. Owners often want something quieter, smarter or able to run during an outage, and an opener installation handles all three at once.

Coaling also remembers what wind can do. Before dawn on April 27, 2011, an EF-3 tornado tore through parts of town, destroying three homes and badly damaging at least ten. Owners replacing a door here often ask for something sturdier, and a wind-rated garage door with reinforcing struts is the usual answer.

Coaling facts

Coaling's growth and its 2011 tornado

Coaling first appeared on the 1880 census as Coaling Station and incorporated in September 1997. It grew from 1,115 residents in 2000 to 2,035 in 2020, and its housing units rose from 458 in 2010 to 836 in 2020. Much of that growth follows jobs nearby: the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vance employs about 5,800 people. The town has storm history as well. At about 5:15 a.m. on April 27, 2011, an EF-3 tornado devastated parts of Coaling, destroying three homes and severely damaging at least ten.
